FIVE SISTERS

18 X 24 OIL ON CANVAS  SOLD
I painted this similar to a smaller painting with four ladies.
My customer wanted one with five ladies to give the impression of her with four sisters.  This larger painting is a bit more detailed and took  a few days to complete.

WINDY DAY AT THE BEACH PASTEL FIGURE STUDY

12 X 10 PASTEL ON CANSON PAPER
This is probably my favorite of the quick studies.  I spent no more than 15 min on this ...no time to get  fussy and overwork the painting.
Speaking of windy days..we had pleny of that last night with hurricane Nate here on the Gulf Coast.
Not one tree or branch in my swimming pool....yeah!   I can feel for all those that weren't so fortunate with the other storms as I went thru Ivan, Katrina, and even Hugo (when I lived in Charleston).  Questions...click:

A JOYFUL NOISE BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

12 X 10 PASTEL SKETCH ON HEAVYWEIGHT CANSON PAPER
I did several quick pastel sketches a few weeks ago concentrating on the gesture of the figure.
I limited my time to 15 minutes each.  I have about six more of these to show in the following week or two.
This is a good way to warm up if you haven't painted regularly in a while.  They were fun anyway.

TREASURED MEMORIES by Elizabeth Blaylock

12 x 12 oil on wood panel
Beautiful little girl and boy on the glorious Gulf Shores, Alabama Beach, totally enjoying just splashing in the surf of the ocean.   They have tossed cares to the wind!
I am sure that the parents are lovingly watching over them as our father in heaven watches over us.
They know it in their very being!

Luke 12: 6-7
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

BLUE CRAB WITH PURPLE

20 X 20 OIL ON CANVAS
I am working on a series of 20 x 20 oils of  Alabama coastal wildlife.  As usual, I am going funky and colorful rather than realistic.  Don't think you will find them on a species id site!

MOTHER AND SON WALKING THE SURF

8 X 10 OIL ON CANVAS
This is the finished oil painting I started as a demo at my Foley workshop.
Using simple strokes to describe the gesture of the figures, I pushed the flesh tones to warm oranges and pinks to contrast with the cool blues of the water.

PORTRAIT OF ART BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

9 x 12 oil on hardboard panel
Art was a great model for our Thursday painting session at the Foley Art Center.   This was about an hour and 20 minute portrait sketch. It was great to see everyone again as I don't often get to take the time.  Lunch afterward at Gelato Joe's was perfect!

TACKY JACK'S by ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

9 x 12 oil on panel
This is another of the paintings I did on site at the Gulf Shores plein air event earlier the is month.

VIEW FROM PIRATES COVE BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

9 X 12 OIL ON HARDBOARD PANEL
This is one of the paintings I did a couple of weeks ago in the plein air event that was hosted in Gulf Shores.  The staff at the Pirates Cove restaurant was kind enough to let me set up in the shade on their back porch.  This was a dreamy location for a plein air painter.  I am really accustom to the comforts of my studio but I thought I would give this a shot.  My hat goes off to all the out door painters!
Also I found that the cheeseburgers the rustic Pirates Cove restaurant are truly outstanding and the view is magnificent.

ADORABLE IN BLUE AT THE BEACH

9 X 12 OIL ON HARD BOARD CANVAS PANEL
This is a one hour demo I painted for my workshop a couple of weeks ago.
This figure was a lot darker than the background with a few touches of light hitting.
Keeping the edges soft lends more of an impression of movement.  The figures in the background
were painting with just a couple of stokes capturing the gesture..

LOVELY PENSIVE MODEL

12 BY 9 OIL ON PANEL
I have been away in Taos Ski Valley at Carolyn Anderson's workshop.  Wow, was it ever a great workshop hosted at the Hotel ST. Bernard which has a 5 star chef and the most accomodating staff ever.
This is the first model I painted, in about a 3 hour sitting.  I love Carolyn Anderson's soft dreamy technique!  She uses a lot of transparent oil colors and stresses the incorporation of the background to create a pleasing solid painting.
